Alien bomber 2005 v1.0
Version history
About the game
This game is a new version of our classic DOS-game Aliens. Aliens was originally written in year 1996 without any greater purpose or meaning. The game was never really popular and was totally forgotten until these days. However the game was fun and addictive to play. And these were the main reasons for making this new version!
This new game is purely .NET-program and its code is rewritten from Pascal to C#. Game's graphics and gameplay are basicly untouched but some improvements were done 'under the hood'. These new improvements include timer controlled game loop, event based key handling and some bug fixes.
Actual new features include window-based graphics, sounds, briefing screen and menubar with its options.
System requirements
This version of the game works only on Microsoft .NET framework runtime environment. Sadly the sound system interface is written in managed/unmanaged C++ and therefore it cannot be run on Mono runtime environment. You will also need sound card if you want to hear some sound effects. And believe it or not, this game can make your multihypersupergigahertzprocessor really busy -> More power, less frame skipping.
Installation
Just uncompress the package to desired folder and run Aliens2005.exe. You must also have .NET-framework installed and it can be loaded without charge from Microsoft's site.
Note: In some systems you may also need to install OpenAL to get sounds working. Open AL installer can be found from here.
Goal
Destroy all the human defensive turrets in each level by dropping bombs. Collect goodies that are dropped from orbit. There are three different types of goodies: extra life, shield and rapid fire. Try not to die!
